Eagle Feeding , Langkawi

Image
You will sea eagles in many places around Langkawi. After all the name of the island has been given after the reddish brown eagle. Helang in Malay means Eagle and Kawi is reddish brown color. The reddish brown eagles (also known as Brahminy Kites) are the most common form of eagles that you will find here. You will also see many White Bellied Sea Eagles in Langkawi as well which are larger in size . The main feeding areas of the reddish brown eagles is at the Kilim River area at the north eastern end which is part of the Kilim Geopark and also the water area near the island Pulau Singa Besar located just south of the main island. It is a spectacular sight where large number of eagles circle the sky and dive into the river to catch their food. You will watch this for about 20 minutes while sitting in the boat . When you reach the calm water area surrounded by dense forests, the boatman shuts down the engine to eliminate the noise, goes to the backside of the boat with a bag ...

Monkey feeding , Kilim Geopark Lankawi

Image
As the boatman brings the boat close to the shore, large number of monkeys appear from nowhere expecting peanuts to be thrown to them. The guide actually carries a bag full of peanuts and hands it over to the passengers to feed the monkeys. Don't be surprised if some of the monkeys come on board the boat in excitement. They reach no harm though . Just after crossing over onto the island you’ll see monkey carvings overlooking the mangroves. Inside those mangroves are hundreds of  monkeys , is a great place to observe local wild life and is also where monkeys come out of their natural habitat to greet travelers and perhaps eat some of their food . From coke to bananas, these crazy monkeys would eat almost anything whether it is on the beach or in the water. Throw some bananas in the water and you might end up being surprised with how fast the monkeys swim to get them . To the joy of the tourists.  They are usually accompanied by their mums, so be careful, as th...

Golden Triangle | Thailand

Image
The Golden Triangle (สามเหลี่ยมทองคำ Saam Liam Thong Kham) is in Chiang Rai Province, in the far north of Thailand. The English name comes from the meeting of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand here, but to the locals it's Sop Ruak, since this is where the Mekong meets the Ruak River. Historically the Golden Triangle has been an area well-known for the growing of opium, and the name comes from a US State Department memo on the practice. These days, though, the place lives on the cultivation of tourists, and this is undoubtedly the largest tourist trap in northern Thailand. The landscape is hilly, divided by the Ruak River that flows into the Mekong (Mae Khong) River. These rivers form a natural boundary between the three countries Laos (to the east of the Mekong), Myanmar (to the north of the Ruak), and Thailand (to the west of the Mae Khong). Most people seem to come here on guided bus tours. For independent travellers, blue songthaews run through the Golden Triangle from Mae Sai (45 mi...

Alia Residence Business Resort , Langkawi

Image
Business Resort ?? I don't think so.... But it was okay for me ,  one night rate RM120 PER day include with breakfast on low season . This place is far about 7 to 8 kms from the main tourist attraction Pantai Cenang .  the ones within a short drive distance away from the airport . The room was abit small  but  was comfortable. There is a nice swimming pool outside . There is also a "beach" bar for those who love to hang out at night. The only reason I wrote "beach" is because there isn't much of a beach there as it is close to a mangrove swamp. But you always get a good view of the sunset there . Our room was on the second floor by the pool side and have An awesome view of beach from the balcony , The room was very clean , mineraL water bottles were supplied and re filled as needed. The washroom was very clean also with well equipped with all the toiletries , no issues about hot water. The staff is also quite friendly and helpful. The breakfast...
